Born and raised in Anderson, IN, I am a proud Hoosier. I was blessed to grow up in a very loving, close-knit family, with a brother, Christopher, and a sister, Jennifer, who are twins. They are just one year older, so we grew up experiencing everything together. To this day, we remain close and enjoy family gatherings whenever possible. Holidays and gatherings are usually in Anderson, where my parents have remained after retirement.
Faith, family, friends, school and sports (football and baseball) were what growing up was all about. I would say we had a very traditional home life. I was fortunate to have grown up in Anderson when Anderson had its best years. Not long after going off to college, the economy began its steady decline as GM made its slow but complete exit from Anderson.
I nearly ran the gamut when it comes to colleges in Indiana. I went to IU Bloomington for my first three years, and then transferred to IUPUI to complete my undergraduate degree, a BS in Psychology. With IUPUI being set up the way it is, the School of Science is under the Purdue arm of the campus, so I received a degree from Purdue. Then I went to Butler for my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. If you are keeping up, I managed to connect with four of Indiana’s best schools along the way… IU, IUPUI, Purdue, and Butler. When you throw in my wife’s degree from Ball State University, the list grows and is nearly complete!!
Speaking of my wife, Tiffany, she is the best thing that has ever happened to me. We reside in Westfield, IN, with our two youngest children, with our oldest living in Boston completing her 4th year of optometry school. Tiffany is my strongest supporter and always has my back. Without her I cannot do what I do. I’m definitely the lucky one in the relationship. We celebrate being married 20 years in December, 2019, and enjoy each and every stage of our lives together, and the raising of our three children; Taylor (26), Lexi (17), and Nolan (15), and our “baby,” Bailey (9), our family dog, who is still called “baby” at nine years old.
Life with Tiff and the kids is, well, everything. While I love what I do, and I am very passionate about it, I commonly can be heard saying, “family is more important than work.” I say it often, and I certainly live it too. I can probably be best described as someone who works hard and plays hard. When I’m at work, I only have a high gear… and I simply love working with people. Yet, when I’m away from work, I don’t let work interfere. Life outside of work is much the same. I only have a high gear for the most part. The Halls value faith, family, friends, kindness, giving, academics, community, golf, biking, days at the pool / beach, and travel… lots and lots of travel. I love life and sharing it with others, especially my family. We love each other, and we go, we do, we explore, we experiment… we enjoy… life.
